Yemeni Army Holds Taiz Against Fiercest Houthi Assault in Years

Yemeni government forces repelled coordinated Houthi attacks around Taiz on Oct. 2, in fighting officials called the fiercest in years. Officials said 30 Houthi fighters were killed and 50 wounded. Local reports said Houthi units withdrew in Samea after ground strikes left dozens dead or wounded. Taiz may remain the war's main flashpoint.
