Eastern Spain faces up to 300mm DANA downpour, Valencia on red alert

Forecasts show widespread rain over 100mm across eastern Spain on Friday, with isolated totals of 200-300mm, the Guardian reported 2 Oct. Valencia and Castelló carry the highest flash-flood risk. The cause is a DANA, cold air high above warm Mediterranean air that stalls storms. Spain's AEMET weather service has reissued red warnings for very heavy rain in southern Valencia.
