Trump Floats Diesel Export Ban to Push Europe on Reserves

President Donald Trump said in early October 2026 he was "thinking" about banning U.S. diesel exports to Europe. He wants European countries to release stored diesel — emergency stockpiles — to help bring down U.S. fuel prices ahead of midterm elections. The UK and EU say they have held early talks on reserves, but announced no release.
