Rijksmuseum and Prado launch research on women rulers' impact on art

The Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam and the Museo Nacional del Prado in Madrid are launching a joint project on ruling women's influence on 16th-century European art, The Art Newspaper reported. The report says the Habsburg-focused work terms women's impact 'matronage' as opposed to 'patronage', with expert meetings to examine female power and art.
