
Miami Judge Rules Federal Noncitizen Voting Ban Unconstitutional
A Miami federal judge threw out the case against Chelsea Cox, accused of voting as a noncitizen in 2020. Judge David Leibowitz ruled the 1996 federal ban on noncitizen voting in federal elections unconstitutional, saying the Constitution leaves voter qualifications to states, not Congress. He said Florida could prosecute, not the Justice Department. The ruling applies only to her.
