U.S. Sending Three Carriers, Two Landing Forces Toward Iran

A U.S. official told Al Jazeera on Oct. 2 that three aircraft carriers — floating air bases — and two landing groups for putting troops ashore are deploying around Iran, complete by November. The Roosevelt group and Makin Island group carrying 2,000 Marines left San Diego for the Middle East.
