California Penalizes Robotaxis That Block First Responders Past 30 Minutes

California enacted Senate Bill 1246, introduced by Sen. Dave Cortese and signed by Gov. Gavin Newsom. It penalizes self-driving taxi operators, AV meaning autonomous vehicle, if a robotaxi blocks police or firefighters for more than 30 minutes, setting that delay as the trigger for liability for emergency interference.
