D.C. Ends Breed, Size Limits for Dogs in Rentals

Washington landlords can no longer turn away tenants' dogs over breed, size, or weight. The final part of Roscoe's Law — a local housing rule — took effect Oct. 1, 2026. It applies to leases starting after that date and bans extra fees tied to breed. Councilmember Robert White introduced it, naming it for his dog.
