Energy bills in Great Britain will rise. From 1 October 2026, a typical home using gas and electricity pays £1,723 a year, up 4% and the highest in three years. That is £60 extra a year, or £5 a month. Watchdog Ofgem sets the limit every three months. Chancellor John Healey faces pressure to help in the 28 October budget.
