30-year Treasury yield reaches 5.592%, highest since June 2002
5.592% was the 30-year Treasury yield on Sept. 29, 2026, Reuters reported, the highest since June 2002. Yield here means the annual return for lending to the U.S. government. If it stays high, I expect upward pressure on mortgages and other long-term borrowing costs.
