OpenAI releases cheaper GPT-6.1 Sol, close to Astra on work tasks

OpenAI launched GPT-6.1 Sol on September 29, 2026 at DevDay. The company says it matches GPT-6 Astra closely on agentic coding — software that completes tasks on its own — computer use and professional work, at one-fifth the price for input and output tokens, the units of text the model processes.
