Former Ugandan broadcaster crowned 13th king of Tooro Kingdom

Edward Rukidi Kijanangoma, 56, was crowned Edward Rukidi Nyabongo I in Fort Portal in western Uganda on September 29, 2026. The former Uganda Broadcasting Corporation broadcaster and editor becomes the 13th monarch of the Batooro people. He succeeds his cousin King Oyo, who died of cancer in August at 34.
