Tompkins County to Present Cornell Chi Phi Case to Grand Jury

Tompkins County prosecutor Matthew Van Houten has reopened the criminal case over the alleged October 2024 gang-rape of a 20-year-old Cornell student at the Chi Phi house. With her cooperation, he plans to present it to a grand jury — citizens who decide on charges — after her September 2026 civil suit against Cornell and the accused men.
