UK to Restrict Nuclear Submarine Dock Contracts to Domestic Firms

Only British firms will build three new floating docks for nuclear submarines at HM Naval Base Clyde, Chancellor John Healey will announce. The docks — floating structures for lifting submarines for repair — are part of Programme Euston, due in the early 2030s under a £15bn shipyard upgrade for maintenance and inspections, keeping sensitive nuclear work under domestic control.
