Birmingham Pair Given Life Sentences for Murder of Vulnerable Rubin Blount

Kenneth Newton, 58, and Melanie James, 64, from Birmingham were given life sentences, with at least 21 years in prison, for murdering 28-year-old Rubin Blount, described as vulnerable. Newton, Blount's stepbrother, and James, his partner, mistreated him at a Tamworth home before his death on 30 November 2022. A jury found them guilty in July at Stafford Crown Court.
