Glacial Collapse Flood Kills 1,453 on Nepal-Tibet Border

At least 1,453 people died when a glacial collapse, a breakup of glacier ice, sent mud, rock and water across northern Nepal and the China-Tibet border on August 26, 2026. Nepal's disaster authority says 5,500 remain missing and 13,795 were rescued. Prime Minister Balendra Shah told the UN General Assembly on September 24 it was 'a warning to the world.'
