New Zealand First names deputy mayor as general election candidate

New Zealand First will have Murray Chong stand in the general election, the party said on Friday. Chong is New Plymouth's deputy mayor. He has been on the council for 13 years and became deputy mayor in 2025. He also stood for the party in 2017.
