New Zealand First chooses New Plymouth deputy mayor to run for Parliament

Murray Chong will run for Parliament for New Zealand First at the next general election, the party said on Friday. Chong is New Plymouth's deputy mayor, the council's second-in-charge. He has been on the council for 13 years and became deputy mayor in 2025. He also ran for the party in 2017.
