Fed Lifts Rate Target to 3.75%-4%

The Federal Reserve raised its federal funds rate target — the benchmark that steers borrowing and savings rates — to 3.75% to 4% on Sept. 16, up a quarter point, the Fed said. The Board also lifted the rate on reserve balances to 3.90%. Expect tighter credit; duration hinges on inflation — a general rise in prices.
