MPs, Jewish leaders urge Ottawa and provinces to act after Yom Kippur shooting

Jewish leaders and Liberal and Conservative MPs urged at an Ottawa news conference Sept. 24 that federal and provincial governments make fighting antisemitism — hostility toward Jewish people — a priority. They cited the Sept. 20 hate-motivated shooting at Sons of Jacob synagogue in Belleville on Yom Kippur, the holiest day in Judaism. They flagged university campuses.
