87-year-old evicted from Madrid flat held since 1956

Police on Wednesday evicted Maricarmen Abascal, 87, who has a disability, from her rent-controlled flat in Madrid's Retiro district, where she had lived since 1956. The unit was under an old renta antigua lease — a long-term, low-rent contract — and owned by real estate firm Urbagestión. She will stay temporarily with relatives.
