Navy confirms eight suicide attempts in Lincoln strike group

Acting Navy Secretary Hung Cao confirmed eight suicide attempts, with no deaths, among sailors assigned to the USS Abraham Lincoln carrier strike group during its Middle East deployment. In a letter answering Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand's questions on self-harm reports, Cao said the total covers the carrier, its air wing and escort ships. What caused the cases is still unclear.
