Donald Trump greeted Xi Jinping on the tarmac at Joint Base Andrews on the evening of Sept. 23, 2026, opening a two-day state visit — the most formal kind of diplomatic visit. A planeside greeting by a president is rare. It was their second meeting this year, following Trump's visit to China.
