Ministers turn down Gigablue push on ocean carbon-storage rules

Ministers have rejected a request from start-up Gigablue to loosen rules in the exclusive economic zone – the ocean area New Zealand controls – for marine carbon-storage research, RNZ reported. The company wanted research allowed without a consent, and commercial projects kept out of public notification. Ministers said there was not enough evidence to justify change.
