Sabu's 2007 script 'Arrested Memory' reaches Venice after 19 years and four failed countries

Sabu wrote 'Arrested Memory' in 2007. It nearly secured production in Germany, France, South Korea and Japan before each version fell short of a greenlight. The film screens at Venice's PalaBiennale on September 8, 2026 — an 87-minute Taiwan-Japan co-production in Mandarin, Taiwanese and Japanese, and Sabu's first shoot outside Japan.
