France Launches IRIS: Emergency Fund for Independent Cinema Worldwide

France launched IRIS — the International Resilience Initiative for Independent Screens — at the Lumiere Summit in Saint Paul de Vence, backed by President Macron and the CNC. IRIS aims to deliver rapid emergency funding and international backing to independent cinemas, distributors and non-profit networks at risk, especially where local sectors are isolated or under threat. Macron plans a further gathering in New York on 22 September, according to Variety.
