Christopher Nolan's 'The Odyssey' has earned $457 million in IMAX theatres worldwide, surpassing the $271 million that 'Avatar' grossed in the format in 2009 (not adjusted for inflation), per Variety (3 September 2026). The first feature shot entirely with IMAX cameras, it drew $66 million from just 41 IMAX 70mm screens — roughly $1.6 million per location. IMAX has extended the 70mm run through 30 September.
