UK Law Officers Push Back on 21-Year Murder Sentence
Britain's top legal officers—Solicitor General Ellie Reeves KC and Attorney General Lord Hermer—have referred a murder conviction to the Court of Appeal as potentially too lenient. Vickrum Digwa, 23, received life with a 21-year minimum term for fatally stabbing 18-year-old Henry Nowak five times. Courts can only increase such sentences if the original fell outside what any reasonable judge might impose—a high bar to clear.
