Stanford calls out 'a rot' inside MBIE but backs chief executive Blakeley

Immigration Minister Erica Stanford says there is "a rot" inside MBIE, the ministry overseeing immigration and business, but backs chief executive Nic Blakeley to fix it. A Privileges Committee found Blakeley in contempt for deliberately misleading Parliament over a costly IT project. He offered to resign; Public Service Commissioner Brian Roche declined, noting Blakeley had been six weeks in the role.
