Iran's Rezaei Puts Gulf States in an Export Bind

Iranian security official Mohsen Rezaei said August 22 that the Strait of Hormuz — a narrow shipping lane carrying roughly a fifth of global oil — stays closed until Gulf states open alternative export routes. On August 23, he warned that if neighbors join US sanctions, Iran would target those routes too. Gulf states are left with no viable export path either way.
