HBO Max Names 12 European Writers for Script Engine Program, Its First Step Toward Local-Language Originals

HBO Max and WBD Access selected 12 screenwriters from France, Germany, Italy and Spain for a four-month development program led by Frank Spotnitz with the Series Mania Institute. Each writer pitches an original locally rooted series concept to HBO Max executives in November. The program guarantees development, not a greenlight. HBO Max completed its European rollout this year.
