Google's Thompson Center renovation replaces Chicago post-modern facade with triple-glazed wall
Photos from early August 2026 show the Thompson Center in Chicago — considered one of the USA's most significant post-modern buildings — with its original 1980s patterned-glass facade replaced by a triple-glazed curtain wall. The renovation, led by studio Jahn for Google, trades the heritage exterior for energy efficiency. Completion is planned for 2027.
