Leigh win at Headingley despite Leeds dominating possession and carries
Leigh Leopards beat Super League leaders Leeds Rhinos 20-16 at Headingley on 13 August, becoming the first side to win there in 2026. Leeds held 56% of possession, completed 39 sets to Leigh's 35 at a 78% rate, and made 218 carries to 181. In rugby league, where six tackles usually reward possession with points, Leigh's defence made the result a rare exception. The win boosted Leigh's top-four hopes with the regular season closing.
