Chest binding during exercise: UWA study finds no fitness impact, challenging advice with no evidence base

A UWA-led study of 21 people found chest binders do not significantly affect aerobic fitness, muscle strength or lung function during exercise. More than 60% of trans and gender-diverse adolescents assigned female at birth use binders. Clinical advice against exercising while bound had no evidence base. GWS AFLW player Tilly Lucas-Rodd, who previously used binders, knows the stakes. Full results are due later in 2026.
