Helldivers 2's 7.0 update adds AI squad allies who fight, heal and hug players

Helldivers 2's Devoid of Liberty 7.0 update, live 12 August 2026, adds AI-controlled SEAF soldiers as NPC allies. Delivered by dropships as a planet modifier, each squad fields a leader, rifleman, heavy weapon specialist and medic who can stim wounded Helldivers. SEAF soldiers also react to player emotes — shaking hands, playing rock-paper-scissors and giving hugs.
