Nonu performs solo haka against All Blacks — a first for any South African team
Former All Black Ma'a Nonu, 44, stood alone before his Sharks teammates in Durban on 11 August 2026 and performed Kapa o Pango — the haka New Zealand reserve for their biggest matches — in reply to the All Blacks' haka. No South African team had ever responded with a haka. Nonu, who earned 104 caps, said: "I thought it was the right thing to do." New Zealand's assistant coaches had been consulted beforehand. The All Blacks won 54-0.
