New U.S. Import Taxes on Nearly All Foreign Goods Start July 24

On July 24, 2026, the U.S. began taxing goods from 59 countries and the European Union at 10 or 12.5 percent. The trade office said those countries supply over 99 percent of what America imports. The government said it acted because those countries have not banned goods made with forced labor. Energy and many foods are exempt.
