Burnham Opens a PM's Office in Manchester — a First Outside London

On July 24, 2026, PM Andy Burnham held the first meeting of a key economic council at his new Manchester office, No 10 North. He is the first PM to regularly work outside London. The council, started by Gordon Brown during the 2008 financial crisis, gathers top ministers and local mayors to make economic decisions beyond the capital. Burnham plans weekly visits.
