Venice Film Festival 2026 puts media power on screen, past and present

Venice's 83rd film festival runs 2–12 September 2026. It opens with Danny Boyle's "Ink," where Guy Pearce plays Rupert Murdoch buying the Sun newspaper in 1969. Alex Gibney's four-hour documentary "Musk" also screens. Together, the two films let audiences compare old-fashioned newspaper power with today's digital platform influence.
