Conservative Party bars ex-minister Grant Shapps from standing for Parliament

The Conservative Party has stopped Sir Grant Shapps from running as its candidate at the next general election, the BBC reported. Shapps held three top government roles — home, defence and transport secretary — but lost his parliamentary seat in 2024. Leader Kemi Badenoch said she leads "a brand new party full of new people". Shapps declined to comment.
