Conservative Party blocks Sir Grant Shapps from standing as candidate
The Conservative Party has rejected Sir Grant Shapps' application to stand as a parliamentary candidate at the next general election, the BBC reported. Shapps, who served as home secretary, defence secretary and transport secretary, lost his Welwyn Hatfield seat in 2024. Leader Kemi Badenoch said she leads "a brand new party full of new people". Shapps declined to comment.
