Deutsche Telekom's boss, Tim Höttges, said on November 5, 2026 that SpaceX needs at least $200 billion to compete in mobile phone service. He compared spectrum, the radio airwaves phones use: 76 MHz for SpaceX, 400 MHz for his company. Towers, masts that carry calls, would cost SpaceX $20–30 billion, against his company's 85,000.
