Macronix Stops Making ROM Memory Chips, Shifts to NOR Flash for Data Centers

Macronix will slowly stop making ROM chips, memory that holds fixed data, and focus on NOR flash chips for data centers, as announced in its Q3 2026 results. CEO Miin Wu said demand for data-center chips is "very robust." The ROM wind-down has no set end date. ROM revenue fell 39 percent year over year in the quarter.
