Waymo plans to test self-driving Toyota bZ4X cars in Japan in 2027. Toyota will build the cars at its Takaoka factory and install Waymo's self-driving system there. The Japan project is meant to become a paid robotaxi service, meaning a driverless taxi. The cars are meant for other countries with right-side steering wheels, like the U.K.
