Taiz Governor Says Houthis Are Besieging City of 800,000
Taiz Governor Nabil Shamsan said on 30 October 2026 that Houthi forces are besieging, meaning surrounding and cutting off, the city of over 800,000 people. He said residents face a choice "either to leave or to die." Houthi leader Abdul-Malik Badr al-Din al-Houthi denies there is a siege and says aid can enter. Shamsan urged the international community to act.
