Fed Meets October 27-28 to Decide on Interest Rates

The Fed, the central bank that steers US interest rates, meets October 27-28. It will decide whether to keep its key rate at 3-3/4 to 4 percent or move it again after a September 16 quarter-point increase. A quarter point is 25 basis points, or hundredths of a percentage point. Rates flow to savings, credit cards and adjustable mortgages.
