Discord now shows formatted document files, tables included

Discord now displays uploaded Markdown files, a plain-text format for notes and documents, with their styling and tables shown properly instead of as code symbols. The change arrived with an October 22, 2026 update, according to Discord's update post and The Verge. It applies to entire files, not just messages typed in the chat box.
