More Americans Bought Electric Cars This Summer

Americans bought 262,649 new electric cars in July through September 2026, up 6.1% from the prior three months, making up 6.4% of all new car sales, according to Cox Automotive. It was the best quarter since the record in late 2025, the third increase in a row after sales dropped when buyer tax breaks were cancelled.
