Storm Waves Wreck Old Long Beach Walkway, Force Evacuations

Long Beach lost its 100-year-old beach walkway this weekend. Leftover waves from Tropical Storm Rachel smashed it and hit houses by the sea, washing away sand under them. At least nine buildings are too dangerous to enter, so officials ordered people to leave. The city spent over $1 million in emergency money to respond.
