
Big Batteries Now Cheaper Than Gas for Busy Hours
Large batteries that can supply power for four hours are now cheaper than gas plants used only for busy periods, in all 43 markets surveyed by Wood Mackenzie on every continent. New solar is still cheapest. Batteries should keep getting cheaper while gas gets pricier, ending 33% cheaper in the Middle East and Africa by 2035.
